This is a great stop over campground right off I-40. It's close the Grand Canyon, Flagstaff Arizona, Phoenix Arizona, Petrified Forest National Park and even Albuquerque, NM isn't too far. 

There isn't a lot to do in the state park, but there are several native ruin sites available for exploration. Although the paths are paved, there is a steep incline at the beginning of the main ruin site. 

This park has very little shade and there is none at the ruins. It can get very hot in the summer months, so dress accordingly and bring lots of water.

They also have these little sharp pickers (goat heads?) on the ground and paths that really bothered our dog and were very hard to remove.

The campground is big and there aren't sharp corners to maneuver around. We have seen pretty large rigs here.

The sites are a little odd in terms of electric. Usually we see sections that are non-electric, but here there are some random sites that don't have it. We'd advise double checking if your site has it especially if you need to run an AC in the summer.

The sites are fairly well spread out and we never felt cramped. They were also fairly level and paved.

The bathrooms are nice and they have free showers. Although they aren't our favorite private room type, they were still private enough.

You can probably spend a half day hiking the ruins and touring the visitor center, but after that there isn't much to do.

You can visit the famous corner in Winslow mentioned in the classic Eagle's song. 

Winslow has the usual small city services including a decent sized Walmart (we've heared they strictly enforce their no overnight rule).
